This is a short report on the work delivered by ICIS (In Christ In School)

Historically

ICIS has been working in the Oak Tree School for some time and has developed a strong and healthy relationship with the school. In a recent feedback report it was highlighted that the school thoroughly enjoyed the activities ICIS delivered and would be willing to recommend our services to other head teachers.

Gwen Madden and Nikki Wooley have been delivering the out of school club since May 2010 with around about 18 children in attendance. Firstly, the students took part in the ALF course, which is a teaching programme designed to bring an understanding of Christianity, and more recently a development course, in aid of aspiration and attainment.

Currently

The theme has been learning life skills and character building through learning about the life of Joseph. It is aimed that this programme will conclude with a performance of some of the songs from the musical Joseph techno-colour Dream within an Oak Tree Got Talent show case towards the end of the year.

Through ICIS Gwen continue to work with assemblies, and more recently Gwen and Nikki supported a trip to Cleethorpes recently with a full of children and parents.

Gwen is now supporting Courtney Nangle and Corinna Brown with other community ventures.

In support of the extended services offered to the Oak Tree Estate, Gwen now facilitates a Coffee Craft group for the parents and members community. This is a new venture for ICIS but it is essential to work alongside parents in order to support the work offered to the children who are attending the out of school club and the local school. The Coffee Craft will enable community cohesion, opportunity to build and fundraise for future ventures, support their child through school, and to have fun with other people. It is hoped that some of the adults will be in a position to support the out of school club with training and support offered through ICIS and eventually be able to support out of school activities within their school. The attendees of the coffee craft club expressed an interest in making creative cards, jewellery, Christmas wreaths etc in support of the schools activity and Christmas fair. They are prepared to make costumes and props for the Joseph showcase.
